Paul Brandt fans ‘Turn on the Tap’ to safe water for 22,000 in the developing world
Donations during Canadian country singer’s national tour go toward BioSand Water Filters Calgary, AB (December 18, 2007) – In response to an invitation from Paul Brandt, the award-winning country singer’s fans have donated enough money to provide safe drinking water to 20,000 people in the developing world. Brandt’s fans have supported Samaritan’s Purse Canada’s “Turn on the Tap” initiative that is raising $6.5 million over three years to build and install BioSand Water Filters.
Through Brandt’s web site, and at each concert venue in 19 cities during his month-long national tour, he invited fans to make donations to Turn on the Tap (www.turnonthetap.ca <http://www.turnonthetap.ca/> ). He also invited donors to meet him backstage after the concert so he could personally thank them for their help in providing life-saving and low-cost drinking water to the needy in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
More than 1,000 fans responded. Their $220,000 of combined donations during the Nov. 4-to-Dec. 2 tour will enable Samaritan’s Purse to build and install 2,200 of the Canadian-designed filters. Each filter serves about 10 people – meaning the 2,200 filters will benefit approximately 22,000 people.
“It’s been a pleasure to see my fans respond to this need,” Brandt says. “More than one billion people worldwide do not have access to safe drinking water. The diseases caused by drinking polluted water are killing someone every 20 seconds. BioSand Water Filters from Samaritan’s Purse can transform polluted water into drinkable water in seconds. I’ve seen them working in Cambodia.”
The $100 cost of each BioSand Water Filter from Samaritan’s Purse includes hygiene and sanitation training and equipment. Filter recipients help in the construction and installation. By helping improve their overall health, the filters enable entire families to enhance their performance at school and at work to escape the vicious cycle of poverty that hampers their communities’ and their nations’ economic and social development.
“Samaritan’s Purse Canada wishes to thank Paul for his extraordinary service and generosity to our organization and the people we serve around the world,” said Fred Weiss, Executive Director. “Paul has played a major role for several years now in promoting our annual Operation Christmas Child program, and we are very grateful to also have his help in telling Canadians about Turn on the Tap.”
Be sure to tune in to PBTV right here on www.paulbrandt.com <http://www.paulbrandt.com> on January 11th, 2008 to find out which fan that supported Turn on the Tap has been selected to go to Africa with Paul!

These tasty morsels are laced with Dark Callebaut chocolate and butterscotch chips, and are lassoed by oatmeal. And what do you call this little piece of heaven? Why a Cowboy Cookie of course!
Mother of two, wife of one and cookie-baker extraordinaire, Debbie met Paul and Liz through mutual friends this past spring and won over their taste buds at first bite. Debbie admits that for her, cookies are an infatuation: “I consider the cookie to be one of the most perfect foods! In fact, when I was a sales rep, on the road all the time, the only thing that truly motivated me was finding the perfect cookie in every town. Now I’m not talking about the perfect looking cookie; I’m talking about the perfect tasting cookie!!” We think that after all those years of searching Debbie has found those perfect cookies…and they’re right in her own kitchen.
Debbie has been inventing cookie recipes for over three years now. You can find Mommy’s Yummy Cookies at the Millarville Market in Alberta, Canada or order them today by calling Debbie at (403) 613-2778 or writing to: mommysyummycookies@shaw.ca

In a year when my wife and I have lost both of our grandfathers to cancer, are about to lose my father to the same, and yet, have just celebrated the arrival of our first niece to either side of our family, never has a song like 'Live Now' seemed more relevant to us. Thank you for this song, for all your songs, and for the Faith that inspires you. As I am sure you know, it spreads so far beyond yourself to others when they need it the most.
God Bless,
Stuart and Kate Chase,
Vancouver BC
Dear Stuart and Kate,
Thanks for the encouraging note. Liz and I have gone through similar struggles in our lives as well, and 'Live Now' was inspired by these, especially her dad's illness and continued struggle with Parkinson's Disease and Cancer.
I think that music is a "missing-link" of sorts... it connects us with Another World, worlds like C.S. Lewis' 'Narnia', or worlds in scenes from 'The Lord of the Rings'. Music and the stirring that it causes in all of us reminds us that there is something else out there beyond what we see, and it encourages us to ask what that might be.
I'm glad that the song was a comfort to you!
I received your e-mail while I'm stranded in Minneapolis, on my way to Nashville to continue work on my new album 'Risk'. Be watching for the first single in May, I hope you like it!
Jan 13th: That's right, Paul and Aaron head for Chile Jan 27th through Feb 4th, check back here on those dates for podcasts, blogs and more during those dates!
Dec 22nd: I heard about a girl named Julia Coyes today, and I thought you all might like to read about her... I was inspired by this story, I thought you would be too. I think that even more important than Julia's desire to help is her spirit of being positive and active in the face of adversity, and I'd like to encourage her in her efforts. If you are moved by this, please give! Here's the link: https://www.active.com/donate/juliacoyes.
Thank you all for your continued support and encouragement, and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!

Stockwell and Val Day were among the attendees at the event, and all, especially our own PB were very excited to be there. After giving her OCC gifts and helping to load some boxes into the big rig, the Convoy was off to Salem Storehouse bookstore for the Ottawa performance.

It warms the heart to be able to participate in all of this, watching as Canadians donate these gifts for children in impoverished nations around the world. Where is the Canadian Man? - Fans will notice something that they haven't witnessed in 10 years. PB will not be at the CCMA awards. Why? He must have an important reason. It must be big.
"I'm disappointed to be in a position to have to miss attending the CCMA awards this year, but I believe that planning and preparation for the 10 Year Anniversary Celebrations of my decade in music has to take centre stage right now," said Paul from his Calgary home, "I'll miss the party for now, but I think the end result will be worth it."
"I'll definitely be watching on the big night. I'm a huge country music fan!"

Paul Brandt Convoy Crossing Canada, Collecting "A Gift" for Operation Christmas Child
Toronto, Ontario, Canada (September 5th, 2006) - A Christmas Convoy is gearing up to drive across Canada with the first load of toys from Santa's workshop. Well it may not be Santa and it may not be a sleigh, rather Brand-T Records / Universal Music Canada recording artist, Paul Brandt is hitting the road with an 18-wheeler. From October 10th to 27th he will be collecting shoeboxes full of gifts to send to children overseas with Operation Christmas Child.
Paul Brandt has made history as the most awarded male Country artist in Canada. His music has gained him recognition through 14 CCMA's, 6 Juno Awards, and multi-platinum record sales. Along with these accomplishments, Paul has taken the opportunity to be involved with a variety of humanitarian organizations, bringing his music all over the world to places such as Bosnia, Belize, South Korea, Cambodia and Africa. One such charity close to his heart is Samaritan's Purse, an international Christian relief organization reaching those in need around the world.
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan's Purse which uniquely provides a way for people to touch lives around the globe. This is an opportunity for people of all ages to hand-pack shoeboxes with gifts of toys, school supplies and necessity items for children overseas who may otherwise never have the blessing of receiving a Christmas gift.
Paul Brandt's tour will ignite the season of giving as he picks up many of these gifts. Empty shoeboxes will also be available, to be filled and returned to collection sites at a later date. The boxes are collected at sites across Canada including Safeway stores, churches and other locations, until November 18th. Volunteers at these locations will collect the shoeboxes on behalf of Operation Christmas Child, and Paul will arrive at many of the sites to personally pick up the first of the donated gifts.
During his stops, Paul will be signing autographs for fans, thanking media for their support, and sharing new music from A Gift, his new Christmas album set for release in early November. Along with the title track, this new full-length album also features "Christmas Convoy", a new version of "Convoy" which he brought back to the radio charts in 2004. In addition to his Christmas release, and his tour with Operation Christmas Child, Paul Brandt is preparing to release a new 10-year anniversary studio album in spring 2007.
Throughout his cross-Canada journey entitled A Gift, Paul Brandt invites you to join him on this tour in support of Operation Christmas Child. Paul is available for interviews as he makes his stops at each of the designated shoebox pick-up locations. Come and enjoy his new music and experience this introduction to the season of giving.
